Ashmeade is a privately run residential home for the elderly. For 34 years we have strived to keep a homely ambiance rather than that of an institution. Our lounges and communal areas are places where you can relax, be comfortable and feel at home.
A helping hand when needed…
Our staff are trained & mentored by a management team to be polite, considerate and competent when assisting clients with their personal needs. All staff receive relevant training to give them the skills and knowledge required for elderly care.
Simple, plain home cooking, but delicious...
Meals are served in a spacious yet homely dining room, or if you prefer in your own room. All of our food is purchased form recognised outlets and our meat is from a local and renowned Butcher. We do not buy in bulk or use any cheap alternatives; quality is our aim.
Staff prepare meals in a well-appointed kitchen and all have trained and qualified in food hygiene & safety. Menus are based on a three week rotation and include seasonal produce providing excellent choice all year. Clients and relatives are encouraged to suggest new menu choices, or request favourites. Special diets are catered for.
A place to rest... your own personal space
Each bedroom at Ashmeade is furnished to a high standard. We encourage residents to personalise their rooms with photos, trinkets, or anything that makes them feel more at home. Just like our clients, each individual room is different – and certain rooms may not be suitable for those with severe physical disabilities. We recommend viewing any vacant rooms and discussing your requirements with the manager prior to admission.
Life can still be fun.. even when you're over 80
Keeping active and stimulated is known to have a beneficial effect on the body no matter the age. At Ashmeade, we encourage clients to keep in tune with the world around them and offer a range of structured activities. However, we recognise that not all residents want a ‘Butlins’ style social life - and periods of rest and quiet time are structured into our activity schedule.
We have an activity coordinator who will help you find something of interest and take into consideration your capability to achieve it. Our variety of visiting entertainers are sure to offer something for everyone to enjoy.
Forget me not!
Ashmeade offers a variety of links to the world outside the home. We encourage your relatives and friends to visit and offer opportunities for them to participate in our social events (Christmas party, charity fundraising, afternoon tea parties) etc.
We have a regular ecumenical Christian service every 4 weeks and have regular visits from the local Anglican Church who hold a short service & Communion. A priest from the local R.C. church also visits on a regular basis to provide Holy Communion. Whatever your beliefs/faith you can be assured that your views will be respected at Ashmeade.
There are outings to various places, be it the Theatre, Seaside or just a trip into the Countryside. The ‘Forget me not’ club, started by Ashmeade, is held monthly at the local Garden Centre and is supported by other local homes. It offers an opportunity to socialise with other members of the community and a chance to have some fun and games – let’s not forget a delicious cake and cup of tea.
